Albina Guarnieri calls charity compensation "a free-for-all" and "salary theft"
MP Albina Guarnieri has gone on record on her website, and most recently on CBC and on Humber College Radio, stating that there is “a free for all” and “salay theft” in the charitable sector. Her private members bill, C-470, gives the Minister of Revenue the power to de-register a charity if it pays an employee more than $250,000 in a single year. Calling the charitable sector an "ethics free zone", she is manufacturing a climate of distrust and suspicion between charities and their donors.
Do donors really need a over-the-top measures like Bill C-470 to "protect" them from the causes they choose to support? Does compensation actually determine the effectiveness of a charity?
Here are six reasons to Say No to Bill C-470.
